The love we have for our kids is unconditional. But all of the time and attention they take can sometimes mean there’s little time for romance with our partner. Yes, finding balance when kids have constant needs can be difficult. There are inventive ways, however, of making sure you both take the time to nurture your relationship. One solution is to come up with late night date ideas, so you can stir the romantic embers after the kids are in bed!
This is a way of continuing to “date” your partner without having to go out to dinner every other night. Babysitters can be expensive and unreliable, and after working all day it’s nice to enjoy being together in the comfort of your own home. Add some mini-dates at your house when the kids are tucked up in bed.
Here are five brilliant late night date ideas for you to try out:
1. Fire Pit Romance
If you don’t already have one, fire pits are inexpensive and can add a wonderful vibe to the outside of your home. Once the kids are safely in bed, get the fire going and bring some s’mores ingredients for a romantic night of make-believe with your other half.
2. Creative Hour
If you’re creative types, spending time doing creative things together can be really fun and is great for strengthening your friendship. Even if you’re not artistically inclined, getting together with your partner and making scrapbooks or photo albums will remind you of the many memories you’ve made together.
3. Fill in The Blanks
Think you know everything about your partner? Why not make your own game where you both write sentences and leave a word blank? This is a cute and fun way of reinforcing your relationship, because hopefully you’ll both score pretty high! For example, if your favorite color is red, you write ‘my favorite color is (space)’ and get your partner to guess.
It really is the simple things in life that can make all the difference. You can keep the romance alive between you and your partner by simply reminding them how special they are. Give each other a massage, cook up a tasty meal, or dish out a luxurious ice-cream sundae together. Date nights at home can be as easy as you like. The point is to spend quality time together, so do whatever you both love!
5. Couch Potatoes
It might not sound particularly romantic, but sometimes there is nothing more welcome than simply cuddling up on the couch together and watching a movie. This is easy to arrange, and snuggling up without the kids around can be just as romantic as sailing on a yacht. Life is so busy, sometimes we have to find romance in the simplest things.
To mix it up a bit, turn it into a weekly or monthly thing, and take turns picking your favorite films or genres. Some couples think they will never appreciate action or rom-coms (whatever genre they hate). But you’ll be surprised how much you’ll enjoy a film you wouldn’t usually watch when it’s with the love of your life.
